Going to Langkawi

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

I'll be going to Langkawi Island for official business tomorrow. Will spent 4 days carrying out my duty before I take another 3 days off for holiday.

Langkawi is an island up north in the state of Kedah. A resort island that fills with fun, sun and histories. It is a duty free island, where all things are free of duty, including beer!

Thanks to AirAsia for offering low price air ticket, I manage to book a flight for my wife who will be joining me after my work is done here. To my surprise, with the low fare plus 20% discount, I only have to pay RM95.20 for a return ticket.

All reservation was made and I'm looking forward for a holiday without the kids, a time to be on our own without the stress of parenthood.

Just wondering now how will I go through the first 4 days ?

A visit to KL Bird Park

Saturday, February 7, 2009

After toying with my Nikon D60 for 2 weeks, I decided to have a photography outing with another D60 user, who has bought the camera together with me. We decided to have this outing to learn better photography skills and be more familiar with our new camera. KL Bird Park was decided due to it unique feature and varieties of photograph objects.

I took this opportunity to bring along my wife and daughter together and make it a family day outing. Upon arrival at KL Bird Park, I was surprise on the land area of this place. So I check out the information leaflet and came to know that KL Bird Park has the world larges free-flight walk-in aviary. What it means is that you can walk together with various kind of birds, touch them and have photo with them. It is like walking in a large birdcages.

True indeed when you enter the parks, birds are everywhere and they are not camera shy. The environment is very smoothing with large greenery, making the walk very comfortable. Not too hot yet not too gloomy. However it does give me quite a difficult time in setting the right exposure for my camera.

It was a very challenging task for me to photograph all those awesome looking birds. I have limitation in focus length and struggling to get the right setting for the camera. Anyhow I have a great time, my daughter loves the visits but we have to leave this place without completing the entire path due to exhaustion.

End of the day, I would say, KL Bird Park is a great place for photographer, a great place for children to learn and is also a great place for a family outing.

My 2009 Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner

Sunday, January 25, 2009

Chinese New Year is one of the most important days for the Chinese. It is also an important day for my family and me. As tradition, we will have our reunion dinner on Chinese New Year Eve, a dinner where everyone meets up from near and far.

My family are small, about a hand full of people, mostly are my father’s sisters. For many years, the reunion dinner are prepare at home by my mum, but for the last 2 years, we have moved from home cook food to restaurant food, simply because we think that reunion dinner should be relax and less hassle. More time for sharing then busy working.

There for this year, we had another rich and fulfilling dinner at a well pack restaurant, with private room for the kids to run about and more privacy.

Although we need not to pay extra for the room, but the reservation have to be made about 3 months in advance.

Family day – What is mean to me

Saturday, November 29, 2008

For the past 7 years, I’ve been working hard in my courier, simply for one ultimate reason. I love my job, I love the things I’m doing, but this is not the main reason why I work hard, the main reason why I work so hard is that I wanted to provide enough for my family.

I want my wife to have enough for her future, my children to have good education and the family to have enough provision at all time. There are all I work for, although I myself do have my own needs but this is secondary. GOD has always said, trust me and I’ll provide, I trust him for his provision everyday, that’s why I work hard so that He can provides.

My view on life took some changes after this 2 incident, one was the arrival of my 1st child, Cheryl follow by my son Ryan 15 months ago. I watch them come into this world, I watch them grow each day. I know how much they need a secure family to grow up in. 2nd incident was the departure of my late cousin.

His departure gives a huge shock to me and it also helps me to look life in a very difference manner. Lift is short and fragile, as GOD say, our life here are temporary. Therefore if you want the best for your family’s future, you got to work now and not wait.

As I work through this two thought, my family becomes more and more important to me. It makes me feel that to be able to spent time with all of them is the greatest moment of all. Therefore no matter how much traveling I got to do for my boss, I’ll still take a little moment to be with them, if the job allows I’ll bring them along. I basically defined my family day as an outing that all of us can be together and have fun. A simple meal at McDonald is a family day to me as we get to share joy and laughter, a short holiday trip, picnic at the park or even shopping at the mall. Come to the end of the day, is my children that enjoys the most, and this makes me much more happier in life. See them laugh is what makes me going.

Do you have your own family day? Treasure those who are close to you and don’t taker them for granted. Spent as much time with those you love. Career is important but is not THE MOST important things in life.

My Long Raya weekend

Saturday, October 4, 2008

Well 5 days off and is almost end of the Hari Raya holiday. So what did happen on this few days. Basically nothing much. Eat and sleep.

1 October 2008
On the first day of Hari Raya we went to 1 Utama..... Have tea at Theobroma Chocolate Lounge follow by dinner at Plus One Shabu Shabu.

Here's what I ordered at Theobroma Chocolate Lounge, 2 chocolate drinks in mug and warmer, one crepe and a cheese cake. I'm not introducing the favor here simply because this is not a food blog. There are many local review you can find, just do a google on Theobroma Chocolate Lounge.

Anyhow try out the mug and warmer, is worth the price. The chocolate is kind of super rich here. If you are someone who don't fancy rich chocolaty taste, then you can try something more down to earth, like their Frappes. Sorry not picture here because the time I tried it, I didn't border to take any picture.

This cheese case, is small in size, big in price but heavy in tease. So DON'T be fool by its size. It took me and my wife and my 4 years old daughther sometime to finish this cake. What favor I order ? can't really recall the actual name but it has something to do with bluebarry.

All in all I spent RM50 just for a chocolate tea break !!!

Dinner time .. at Plus One Shabu Shabu.
Well too hungry that time, so did not border to photography any food. Anyhow the food was great and everyone including my parents are filled. Nothing to comment here. Cost ? RM110

2 October 2008
Despite is my birthday, I basically did nothing but laze around at home, answering messages from Facebook. Sad....

3 October 2008
Wife wanted to spend lunch, so we end up in Bangsar Village at Deliciuos.

Nice environment, better then the one in 1 Utama, quite a cosy place to dine at. Here's my order, one Shepherds Pie, Rosemary and Garlic fried potates, one Homemade Spaghettini , one Tiramisu for desert and a Peach & Orange smoothies.

Here's the Shepherds Pie
Here's the Homemade Spaghettini, yeah is green in color

Here's the Rosemary and Garlic fried potates
And the desert Tiramisu in a glass. Heard is their signature dish.

All in all, just for one lunch, RM80+ spended.

4 October 2008
Today, have to eat economically, else will go broke before the next week start. So we ended up at Leo in SS2 for lunch, Ikea for Tea and somewhere beside Tesco for light dinner. All in all it cost less then a chocolate tea break.

Well.. that's life... there are time for good dinning, and there are time for simple dinning. What ever dinning it is, make sure you enjoy it to the fullest.

Cheers.

Next stop.... Genting Highland on 12 October 08

Merdeka and Moon Cake Festival 08

Monday, September 1, 2008

Everyone was back home due to long weekend holiday from Merdaka Holiday (Malaysia National Day), so a small BBQ feast was call for the occasion - last minute.

I took the challenge and created my first Beef Burger Patty. Made from pure Australian beef, no preservative added. Read on for more photo.

It turn out great, but not able to BBQ because is just too soft to stay still. So I got it pan fried instate. Additional to the beef patty, I fried some button mushroom to go with it.

Here's where the journey starts, 2 city boy trying to start a fire. The other guy is my brother-in-law.

Learning to BBQ the paste, don't seems to work this way as the patty is just too soft.

Finally got it done after pan fried the patty, add mayo, chilly sauce, button mushroom, onion slice, tomato and cucumber.

Satisfy !!!

Some deco, as moon cake festival is closing, so an early celebration was done. We put up some lanterns here.

Here's the patriotic one with lots of fun and joy.

All in a day work! from shopping to filling the stomach.
